Words from the Honorable Joseph Cyprain.

From the Web Master Gregg S. Kendryna

As I was cleaning out our lodge library (Oglethorpe Lodge #1) and I came across a book the was put together by Joseph Cyprain, it covered the years between 1952-1958.  The book was put together with note cards on the inside with writings of things that he thought, seen, and knew.  I did not know Brother Joseph, yet from the words that he wrote in his book one can tell that he was a true Odd Fellow.

Words from Brother Joseph:

Card 1:  Odd Fellowship. Its beginning No. 1, April 15, 1952 :

~ We have occasion to speak of a class of men peculiar to Odd Fellowship, Britons of middle rank, full of natural peculiarities and wedded to narrow precipices.  But they had rugged virtues, were honest, capable, and preserving.  They always commanded a certain respect and confidence.  Such were the men who came to us with fraternity.  And these were the first Fathers of Odd Fellowship in America. ~

Card 2:  Odd Fellowship. Its Beginning No.2 May 2, 1952:

~ When left to themselves these mystic brethren knew nothing beyond the lessons learned at home-they were few, but they were good and fruitful. Brotherly kindness and sociability were to them sacred and they were true to their obligations too.  Theirs was a lot of poverty and labor; to them a lodge was a refuge from the cold neglect that belonged to their humble station. ~
