FRANKLIN LODGE NO.2
Franklin Lodge No.2 was instituted in the city of Macon, Georgia January 20,1843 by District Deputy Grand Sire Albert D. Case upon petition of Guy L. Warren and five others: Frank Hart, C.S. Thomas, Albert Mix, Thomas Manson and William Sewell Jr. Grand Sire John Kennedy issued the Dispensation to institute the new lodge and commissioned District Deputy Grand Sire Albert Case to perform the work of institution. The lodge began to grow and as of December 31, 1889, it had a membership of 101. A membership among whom many were the most prominent and best citizens of the city of Macon.
Franklin Lodge No.2 has given to the Grand Lodge of Georgia many able men who have attained positions of honor and great responsibility. Among them were three Grand Masters. In 1863, Rev. John W. Burke, an eminent divine of the Methodist Church. In 1872, M.R. Rogers whom no purer man ever lived and in 1875, Judge T.S. Simmons whose abilities as a lawyer and a jurist was known and recognized far beyond the limits of this, his native state. Guy L. Warren was the first Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge.
